Port reception facilities for ship-generated waste :
The regulations applicable to ships calling at Guadeloupe are complied with in accordance with this plan for the reception and treatment of ship-generated waste and cargo residues.
The procedure consists in ships' captains uploading their prior notification of waste disposal to the VIGIEsip port of call processing software, at least twenty-four hours before their arrival at the GPMG. This applies to both operational waste and cargo residues.
If the ship's captain requests waste collection, the ship's agent places an order with one of the port's approved service providers. (Two service providers for solid waste, one for liquid waste).
The latter provides the ship with one or more skips, depending on the type of waste to be collected.
If the ship does not drop off its waste, it provides proof that the waste has been deposited in the previous port.
On receipt of the proof (certificate from the previous port or local service provider), the harbor master's office sends the consigning agent a waste deposit validation document for transmission to customs.
A fee will be charged to any ship failing to provide proof.
